So it hasn't been the best week but it has certainly been interesting and has not been the worst. Starting with last weekend, I was visiting my family in upper East Tennessee. The family I'm speaking of is my best friend, Bobby, and his partner, Larry. When I need to get away and just chill, I go to see them. They help me relax and rejuvenate. Their home is full of wonderful energy and is my shelter from any storm!
Saturday night we went to dinner with some friends of theirs. There was one gay couple, four straight couples, and me...single me. I was a little apprehensive because a) I didn't really know most of the people there and b) I was the only single person. My apprehension was quickly relieved. These were some of most accepting, giving, and fun people that I have met in a long time. One of the couples, Kirk and Kim, went out of their way to make sure I had fun and I did, evident by the fact that after dinner we went to Kirk and Kim's home to have some drinks and sing karaoke...AND Yes, I sang...which surprised even me because I can't sing a note!
We...ok...I have to sometimes force myself to get out of my safety shell...to experience new things and meet new people...both good and bad. The weekend was a much needed reminder to me that there are still some very good people in the world! Much of this week, I've been fighting a cold. All I can say is whoever created AIRBORNE deserves a freakin medal! The homeopathic "medicine" helps to shorten the life of the cold and helps lessen the symptoms. On to Thursday....my statistics class day....UGH...as if that weren't enough, I was forced to deal with a sociopath who has started harassing someone I know. That is most definitely an experience that I do not wish on anyone! Luckily, a very dear member of my family...Maureen, the new president of a college in Houston...YAY MAUREEN...sent me a terrifically funny website that helped brighten my Thursday. You should check it out.... http://www.fakegaynews.com ....It's a riot! And now it's Friday...finally! Nothing really to rant about this week...nothing that riled me up...so I'll leave you with this for today: Find some time this weekend to be with those you love...Find some time to be alone and do something that makes you happy...Whatever it is, enjoy it to the fullest. I will lift a glass of wine in toast to you all and hope that you have a fun, safe weekend! And those of you who are traveling...you know who you are...don't do anything I wouldn't do...but then...that leaves you a lot to try!

DECLARATION OF THE FOUR SACRED THINGS
The earth is a living, conscious being. In company with cultures of many different times and places, we name these things as sacred: air, fire, water, and earth.
Whether we see them as the breath, energy, blood, and body of the Mother, or as the blessed gifts of a Creator, or as symbols of the interconnected systems that sustain life, we know that nothing can live without them.
To call these things sacred is to say that they have a value beyond their usefulness for human ends, that they themselves become the standards by which our acts, our economics, our laws and our purposes must be judged. No one has the right to appropriate them or profit from them at the expense of others. Any government that fails to protect them forfeits its legitimacy.
All people, all living things, are part of the earth life, and so are sacred. No one of us stands higher or lower than any other. Only justice can assure balance: only ecological balance can sustain freedom. Only in freedom can that fifth sacred thing we call spirti flourish in its full diversity.
To honor the sacred is to create conditions in which nourishment, sustenance, habitat, knowledge, freedom, and beauty can thrive. To honor the sacred is to make love possible.
To this we dedicate our curiosity, our will, our courage, our silences, and our voices. To this we dedicate our lives.

I miss you.
I just read this post (sorry it took me so long). It is good to know that there are caring people on this world.
